PRESENTATION - PREPARATION


After the teaching of some basic rules on movie production , direction , acting and editing (duration 2-3 teaching hours) we can split the whole project to stages.


STAGE ONE

 

(duration 2 months - more or less :  October - November)

 

At this stage students of both countries begin to familiarize themselves with the necessary basic skills for film production

1) Teach them the use of the camera

Practice on the use of the camera (duration 1 hour)

2) Teach them the story board

Practice on the story board (duration 1 hour)  

3) Teach them the closed-up scene

Practice on the closed-up scene (duration 1 hour)

4) Prepare a story board and take sort shots based on the following facial expressions (duration at least 3 hour , maximum 5)     

 

  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Happiness
  • Sadness
  • Surprise
  • Sickness
  • Fatigue/Tiredness

 

Duration for each clip 20sec   (with webcams and recording thanks Movie Maker)

5) Teach them the movie maker

Practice on movie maker and make the first clip using the above shots . Each one edits his own clip and  put the title of the expression on the start and actor’s/actress’ name; and “the end” sing on the end ( we leave them free to experiment with the different styles of titles) (duration  2 hour in the computer lab or 5 in the classroom)

6) Upload all video clips on twinspace in the relative folder

7) We make a contest : ...and the best actor is ….   Pupils from Greece vote for the

best French actor/actress and pupils from France  for the best Greek actor/actress (duration 1 - 2 hours)

END OF STAGE ONE


 

STAGE TWO

(duration 2 months - more or less :  November - December)


Scenario :
1) Give pupils the aim and the main axis of the scenario.(duration 1 hour)

Allow pupils to choose the locations of the eight enigmas (4 for each country)

2) Pupils take pictures of the location and upload them in the relatives folders of  twinspace (duration 1 hour)
3) The writing of the scenario / The script.  (duration 2 months)
Mixed teams will be established : French students with Greek students. Each team will write the scenario of two enigmas in cooperation : one will be held in France and one in Greece.
All the scenarios/scripts  will be uploaded in the relative twinspace’s folder

Music :
- Train to create the sounds effects and music on shorts scenario and on shorts extracts of cartoons. ( duration 1 hour every two weeks with the music teacher)
All the trainings will be uploaded in the relatives twinspace’s folder.


This is the  stage where  the pupils from both countries  will  know each other better. Thus, all activities are planned to serve this goal.
1) Teach them the medium-shot scene (duration 1 hour)
Practice the medium-shot scene.
2)Pupils work on paper so as to prepare the story board of a series medium shot scenes (duration  10 hours)

  • There are two types of scenes here :  
    • one with the narrator(s) in front and an object into background
    • one with an object in front and the narrator(s) into background
  • To serve the target of knowing each other, the scenes to be shot are

 

  • City’s spots

Each team prepares storyboards for shooting in parts of the city.

 

  • School’s subjects

Each team  prepares storyboards for shooting as present a school subject

 

  • Traditions

1) Each team  prepares a storyboard for shooting their classmates singing carols ( French/English for the Frenches and Greek/English for the Greeks) and maybe a storyboard where a narrator explain a traditional custom.

2) A parcel of surprise with traditional food for Christmas, Christmas cards, maybe small presents that our pupils have done for the others is to be sent to the other partner.

 

  • Favorites

. Each pupil makes is blazon  like that

  • Each blazon will be put on our Twin space.

  • Beyond the photo of the blazon , this can be also created as digital one  in power point so as each one to upload it’s own blazon in his twin space folder

  • Pupils prepare storyboards for shooting to present his/her blazon (+ name, age) (the name should be written as subtitles). The game is to find “Who is Who ?”

 

  • The blazon could sent in the “Parcel of surprise”

All the storyboards will be uploaded in the relative twinspace’s folder

3) Pupils working with camera and shot the above series of medium-shot scenes

(duration 5 hours)

4) Pupils working on movie maker to edit the above scenes

 

  • Pupils work on the movie maker and make a series of  clips using the above shots .
  • Each team  edits it’s  own clip and  put the title of the clip on the start and actors’/actresses’ names; “the end” sing on the end and add music clips ( authentic or prepared after internet search
  • Each one edits his own clip with his blazon and  puts the and actor’s/actress’ name on the start.

All the scenes will be uploaded in the relative twin space’s folder

5) Upload all video clips on twin space's relative folder



END OF STAGE TWO


 

STAGE THREE

(duration 2 months  : January-February- more or less)

Scenario :
- Create the storyboard of the movie thanks to the scenario (duration 2 months)
Mixed teams established continue to work in cooperation to create the different storyboards

Music :
- Writing on the storyboard what type of sound effects and music will be necessary to create for each plan (duration 2 months)
All the storyboards will be uploaded in the relative twinspace’s folder

This is the stage where students are faced with different angles of shots and moving bodies.

1) Teach them the long-shot scene

Practice the long shot scene (from three different angles - left, right profile and full face - and steady and moving actors.)

(duration 1-2 hours)

2) Prepare a storyboard for a long-shot scene

Each team prepares a storyboard with all the above kind of shot

All the storyboards will be uploaded in the relative twin space’s folder

(duration 5 hours)

3) Pupils working with camera to shot the above scenes(duration 5 hours)

4) Pupils working on Movie Maker to edit the above scenes

Titles, transitions, music etc.

(duration 5 hours)

5) Upload the above shot to twin space's relative folder



END OF STAGE THREE



  

STAGE FOUR

 

 

(duration  : of March until the end of school year)

This is the stage where students create the common film .

Students work on a common scenario that has been completed and agreed upon during project development . The scenario is a story in two parts where the first part must be completed from French students and the second half for the Greek students.

 

  • Pupils used the storyboards for the various film scenes

  • Pupils work with the camera to shot the above scenes

  • Pupils prepare the necessary sounds and music effects

  • Pupils work on Movie Maker to edit the above scenes

  • Pupils prepare posters,  advertisements etc. so as to promote the film

  • Students participate in an on line " Oscar ceremony " where students from France give an Academy Award to Greeks and vice versa

  • All the scenes , recordings , storyboards etc, will be uploaded in the relatives twinspace’s folders
